Winning Entry in Slugger Museum "Art that Swings" Contest honors Howard Steamboat INDIANA

Janice Peters Molnar, who is a docent at the Howard Steamboat Museum, was invited by the Louisville Slugger Museum to join with 29 other local artists to participate in the "Art That Swings" exhibit and fund-raising event for the Arts Council of Southern Indiana. The artists were challenged to use their creative abilities to produce a work of art that was constructed on the foundation of a genuine Louisville Slugger. Janice's entry, "Celebrating Steamer Indiana" won 1st place as the Public's Choice Artist Award.

Janice talks about her entry:
"On the 125th anniversary of the Louisville Slugger, my entry celebrates two other local traditions: boating and racing on the Ohio river. Seen here on the 1928 Louisville waterfront are images of the Steamboat America (the Indiana with a new name) in a 'staged' race with the slower but winning Cincinnati."
