Postal Cancellation honoring 50th Anniversary
of the Howard
Steamboat Museum
At 2:15 PM on
Sunday, May 18th, the U.S. Postal Service will offer
a unique postal cancellation in observance of the Howard
Steamboat Museum's 50th Anniversary. The Howard Steamboat
Museum Golden Anniversary Station cancellation will be
available free of charge to 100 of the first come, first served
individuals until the end of the festival.
Postal cancellations are postmarks that feature wording
and/or graphics relating to fairs, conventions or other
various types of local celebrations. They are offered by
the U.S. Postal Service to commemorate local events being
celebrated in communities throughout the nation.
Collectors may obtain pictorial cancellations only at a
temporary station, such as the one planned for May 18
at the Howard Steamboat Museum. A member of the Postal
Service will be on hand to stamp the cancellation.
