This photo was taken on the back porch of the Howard Steamboat Museum during Chautauqua 2006. On the left is Keith Norrington, a volunteer curator at the museum. On the right is Ruth Heffern, the great, great granddaughter of James Howard, founder of the Howard Shipyard & Dock Company.

The 9'6" pilot wheel behind Keith and Ruth is more than a foot wider than the wheel on the Belle of Louisville. This wheel is from the wooden-hulled sternwheeler towboat Northern, built in 1909. A smaller pilot wheel can be seen on the far right.
